St. Apollinaris Religious Education Program
For the past 50 years the St Apollinaris Religious Education Program has provided the religious training and spiritual formation for our children and youth attending public schools. This is one of the most important ministries of the church: “Go forth and teach all Nations” is our primary purpose. We prepare our children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We work closely with the parents, affirming their role as the primary teachers of their children and supporting them in their efforts to pass on this rich heritage and the traditions of the Catholic faith.
We focus on helping the child:
- Grow to know God, not just to know about but to develop a lasting relationship with God
- Grow in knowledge and understanding of the Sacraments of the Church in order to celebrate these sacraments, in particular Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, with meaning and joy.
- Study and understand the moral principals and values which, as a Catholic Christian, guide our lives in accordance with God’s design and purpose and the dignity of each person.
- Learn the many ways in which we communicate with God in prayer – formal and traditional prayers, spontaneous prayer, liturgical prayer and in particular, the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Our program provides quality faith formation and education for children ranging from 1 – 5th grade. Children 6th grade and older continue their faith journey in preparing for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. After Confirmation St. Apollinaris provides a Youth Ministry Program.
